Description
OSTEOPATHY is a form of integrative technique that focuses on the study and improvement of musculoskeletal disorders and other imbalance problems through non-invasive manual techniques. This therapy is based on the premise that the human body has an innate capacity for self-regulation and self-healing, and that the musculoskeletal system plays a fundamental role in overall health.
To maintain balance, we must hold together the inner and the outer; the visible and the invisible, the known and the unknown, the temporal and the eternal, the old and the new.
WHAT IS AN OSTEOPATHY SESSION LIKE?
Before the session begins, an initial consultation is conducted to understand the client’s needs and concerns. The osteopath uses specific palpation and assessment techniques to identify any dysfunction in the musculoskeletal system, as well as possible imbalances in other areas of the body that may be contributing to the patient’s symptoms. A variety of manual techniques, such as joint manipulations, gentle stretching, myofascial release and soft tissue techniques, are used to correct identified dysfunctions and restore balance and mobility to the body. During the session, the osteopath may offer guidance to the patient on correct posture, stretching or strengthening exercises, occupational ergonomics and other tips to improve musculoskeletal health and prevent future injury. At the end of the session, a personalised treatment plan is discussed based on the patient’s needs and goals. Follow-up sessions can be scheduled as needed to monitor progress and adjust the treatment approach as necessary.
